Background

Verive is a food packaging brand, operating under British multinational Bunzl, that specializes in sustainability issues. Verive offers tailored advice to help companies to achieve their ambitions in sustainability. As a specialist distributor, not tied to manufacturing operations, they are perfectly utilized to guide food companies in the sustainability-jungle with independent advice.

Objective

Sustainability can be a confusing subject, with access to clear, independent advice often hard to come by. Bunzl understands the ambiguity of sustainability and the challenges their clients can face as a business. Bunzl asked us to help them create a brand name and develop a visual identity for this new initiative, to help them realize their mission ‘to combat greenwashing and give clear advice on sustainable food packaging and tableware solutions’.

Approach

From an extensive longlist with possible brand names we ultimately arrived to Verive, a combination of Derive (‘create something from source’) and Veritas (Latin for ‘truth’). We based the visual language around a rounded V logo shape, subtly symbolizing a leaf. The earthly colours of orange and green in combination with attritive food photography and beautiful empty landscapes establish a solid and credible appeal.

Result

We finished the project by creating an easy-to-use brand portal that enables the international Verive-team to create all communication tools needed to live up to their purpose ‘to make sustainable food packaging simple, affordable, and accessible’.
