Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL
Background
Since settling in Los Angeles in 2005, Tom Holkenborg has become one of Hollywood's most in-demand music composers. With his scores for films such as Mad Max Fury Road, Deadpool, Alita Battle Angel, Brimstone and Terminator: Dark Fate, he established an inescapable style for directors such as Peter Jackson, Robert Rodriguez, James Cameron, Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan and established his reputation as a 'full contact composer'.
Objective
Being a true frontrunner and industry disrupter, Tom has always been pushing the boundaries of his field. Sharing his methods in any way possible, he reaches millions of viewers, striving to educate future generations of music makers around the globe.
Leaving behind the early to mid-2000’s EDM feel that has been defining the brand over the years, we needed to develop a contemporary and professional tone, look and feel that guides how the brand is activated across all of it’s digital and physical touchpoints, and expresses the brand essence of the combined artist entity of Tom Holkenborg and Junkie XL.
Approach
We closely collaborated with Tom and his team to build a visual identity and digital ecosystem that ties all activities of his brand together.
The dynamic visual ecosystem gives the main brand Tom Holkenborg and the underlying labels Studio Time, Score Academy and Junkie XL a strong identity of their own, while at the same time radiating an unmistakable unity. The consistent use of three circled shapes in each logo, along with use of color, motion graphics and the brand audio composed by Holkenborg himself evoke a world in which the three main pillars of the Tom Holkenborg brand are captured: composer, initiator, educator.
